Editor's Note: This is a cross post from WhiteHouse.gov. You can find the original post here. I recently had the honor of attending an event to mark the 2nd Anniversary of Let’s Move! in Indian Country at Chimney Rock National Monument in southwestern Colorado. I hiked and learned about this magnificent landscape on our way to the top with fifty youth from the Southern Ute Montessori Elementary, the Deputy Undersecretary of Agriculture Butch Blazer, and a handful of youth from the Pueblos who work with the Southwest Conservation Corps, an AmeriCorps partner organization that engages and trains a diverse group of young women and men and completes conservation projects for the public benefit.

We all know that getting your young ones to eat a well-balanced meal can be difficult. And for many of our children, the only meal they eat each day that is built of quality nutrition is served in the school cafeteria. In an effort to recognize the school nutrition professionals across the nation who serve our children every school day, the School Nutrition Association is launching School Lunch Superhero Day this Friday, May 3.

Saturday, April 20th was the first day of National Park Week – an annual tradition celebrating, enjoying and giving back to our country’s great natural and cultural landscapes. For the next five days, parks across the country will waive their entrance fees to provide free access to thousands of miles of trails and coastlines, as well as battlefields, archeological sites and waterways.

With cities and towns across the country enjoying warmer temperatures and longer days, it is time to break out of your indoor routine and get moving outside! Throughout the month of April, the Children & Nature Network is coordinating a series of free, outdoor events to promote Let’s G.O. (Get Outside)! a national initiative to connect kids and families to the great outdoors.

First Lady Michelle Obama invited students from across the country to join her today on the South Lawn for what has become a favorite tradition: planting the White House Kitchen Garden. For the fifth year in a row, Mrs. Obama and Let's Move Executive Director Sam Kass got their hands dirty as they planted the vegetables that will be harvested this summer and enjoyed by the First Family and White House guests, and donated to local charities.

Ed. Note: This is a cross post from WhiteHouse.gov. You can find the original post here. The First Family today welcomed more than 30,000 guests to the South Lawn for the 135th annual White House Easter Egg Roll. This year's theme, "Be Healthy, Be Active, Be You" was inspired by Let's Move!, and the day's fun included numerous opportunities for the young guests to get moving, from the traditional Egg Roll to the Eggtivity Zone, an obstacle course where players and coaches from professional sports teams taught kids how to play sports and showed them easy, fun ways to stay active and fit.
