Ed. Note: This is a cross post from the blog of fitness.gov. You can find the original post here. I can’t imagine growing up without sports and play. This weekend, the White House will open its gardens and grounds to visitors to see the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden, the Rose Garden, and our favorite, the White House Kitchen Garden. Yesterday, the First Lady was joined by students from across the country to plant the seventh annual White House Kitchen Garden. Mrs. Obama first planted the garden in 2009 to initiate a conversation about the health and wellbeing of our country, which then evolved into the Let’s Move! initiative. This year, as we mark the fifth anniversary of Let’s Move!, we’re celebrating the progress that’s been achieved over the years and challenging ourselves to do even more on behalf of our nation’s kids.
