Hats Off for Active Schools!

It is time celebrate a new school year with the unveiling of the 2015 Let’s Move! Active Schools National Award recipients! Today, Let’s Move! Active Schools partners and staff are proud to honor the 525 schools from 37 states that have earned the top physical activity and physical education distinction for K-12 schools.

Did your school make the list?

So, what does it mean to be a 2015 Let’s Move! Active Schools National Award school? It means that students in those schools are provided with an optimal learning environment, one where at least 60 minutes of before, during and after school physical activity is integrated into their educational experience. Let’s Move! Active Schools National Award recipients see physical activity and physical education as integral parts of the school day and as the X-factor to long-term student achievement both in the classroom and in life.

Yes, the Award celebrates a school’s outstanding efforts in the areas of physical activity and physical education, but it is so much more. These schools are change-makers, innovators and leaders. And by understanding the value of an Active School environment, Let’s Move! Active Schools National Award schools are paving the way to a future where every child is active and healthy.

All of us at Let’s Move! Active Schools are very excited to continue providing you with the resources and tools to get children across the country moving more and working to ensure that 60 minutes of physical activity a day is the new norm in schools!
