CentroNÃa Pre-K Students Garden with the First Lady
CentroNía Pre-K students Jefferson Lopez-Martinez and Oneida Gonalez particpated in Garden Harvest event at the White House as part of Let's Move Childcare. They have shared their experience below.
We are so excited we got to visit the White House. We asked Ms. Renata if we would see President Obama but she said he was very busy. She told us we were going to see the First Lady. We couldn’t believe it! Ms. Renata told us the First Lady was busy, but that she always had time to share with children. When we arrived, we got to see the pictures of all the Presidents. Making a healthy garden vegetable snack with the First Lady was great and she is so nice! We really like gardening because we do it at our school—CentroNía. Gardening is very fun and in our school’s gardening class we get to try new vegetables and herbs. We were really happy that we were able to take home seeds from the White House Gardening Event to add to our garden.

One of our favorite things about CentroNía is that we get to eat healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, and salad every day. We love moving with CentroNía teacher, Ms. Karen, through the Kid Fit program. She makes exercise so fun and we get to jump really high! We learn a lot at CentroNía. We love our school because we see our friends every day. We hope that they also get to visit the White House garden and meet the First Lady some day!
Jefferson Lopez-Martinez and Oneida Gonalez both particpated in the planting of the Whtie House Kitchen Garden in April of 2015.
