Choose Your Own Adventure: Go Outside for Parks and Recreation Month!
Before you know it school will be back in session and leaves will begin to change.
But, right now, it is still peak summer season! So don’t waste another minute – head outside to celebrate (with sunscreen and lots of water, of course)!
July is National Parks and Recreation Month – and whether you’re spending the summer close to home or far away, we are sure you can find a place nearby to play outside.
Make sure you are celebrating in style with these simple suggestions on how to find local parks in your area and plan adventures for you and your family. Let’s Move Outside! is here to help:
- Use our online tools to locate the park or playground nearest you.
- Get activity ideas or explore trip itineraries at: www.Recreation.gov.
- Snap photos of your outdoor escapades and enter them in the Share the Experience Photo Contest for a chance to win the $15,000 grand prize!
- Check out the National Recreation and Park Association’s Calendar of Events.
Celebrations are in full swing! Parks nationwide are hosting a wide variety of activities you won’t want to miss, from free concerts and games to sporting events and hikes. Visiting our local and national parks is both fun and easy.
And always use common sense when it comes to the heat – if it’s too hot to go outside today, look for ways to get active indoors and then head outside when it’s a bit cooler. But whether it’s today, tomorrow, or next week, let the memory-making commence!
