Indiana Fever Brings On The Heat: WNBA Champions Host Let’s Move! Basketball Clinic
Last week, President Obama welcomed WNBA Champion Indiana Fever to the White House to honor the team and congratulate them on their victory. Following the formal event with the President, Indiana Fever players led a Let’s Move! basketball clinic on the South Lawn with forty children from a nearby YMCA program. This visit continued the tradition begun by President Obama of honoring sports teams for their efforts to give back to communities as part of their trip to Washington.

Between fast-paced ball-handling and agility drills, players shared lessons on goal setting, bullying, and nutrition. The children rotated through each of five activity stations, working up a sweat and ending each cycle with an enthusiastic cheer of “Indiana Fever!” As the event came to a close, three-time Olympic gold medalist Tamika Catchings offered her own words of advice, encouraging the kids to dream big and stay active.
A big thank you to the team for helping us fan the flames of fitness in these local youngsters. We can’t wait to see what team will do next season!
