Simple Tips: Healthy Meals on the Go
First Lady Michelle Obama participated in a WebMD Town Hall in Homestead, Florida, and answered questions from audience members about how American families can make healthy choices. Mrs. Obama encourages parents to take an active role in helping kids eat healthy and be active, as part of her Let’s Move! initiative.
The First Lady shares some simple tips on how to feed your family healthy meals on the go, and explains what her family does.
“What I usually encourage my kids to do is to, you know ‑‑ I tell them, you know, that they have alternating opportunities to pick a fun lunch and a healthy lunch, and the fun lunch means they can eat whatever they want. A healthy lunch means it's got to be something that has a vegetable, you know, but it can be something like pasta, and oftentimes we use whole wheat pasta.”
