Fit to Fight with the President’s Challenge

On Thursday, August 4, the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition got active with more than 300 local teenagers at the 40thAnnual Tuskegee Airmen National Convention in Washington, D.C.

Council staff – on behalf of Let’s Move! and Joining Forces – spoke to the teens about how being active every day will help them become “fit to fight” in the Armed Forces. We closed out each session with a “dance-off” and gave prizes for the most creative, high-energy routines.  Those kids really know how to move!

The groups participating in the event included the Maryland National Guard Youth Challenge Program, Oxon Hill High School Junior ROTC, Prince George’s County Police Academy Youth, Civil Air Patrol, Temple Praise and Worship Youth Ministry, and a variety of other groups sponsored by the Federal Aviation Administration.

We encouraged the teenagers to sign up for our Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA) and earn special recognition for their commitment to being physically active for at least one hour per day, five days a week for six weeks. Sign up to earn your PALA and be counted in the Council’s Million PALA Challenge by visiting www.presidentschallenge.org today!
