On Monday, I joined  Mayor David Maher and about 150 others to help celebrate Cambridge, Mass., being named the nation’s newest Let’s Move! city.

The assembled group was energetic and proud of its commitment to promoting healthier foods, increasing physical activity opportunities, helping parents make healthy family choices and making healthy food more affordable and accessible.

As part of this wonderful celebration, 40 incredibly talented fifth-graders from the Haggerty Community School (K-6) in Cambridge did the salsa to demonstrate their school’s Let’s Move! commitment.

The school’s ballroom dancing program was started in 2006 as an innovative effort to incorporate arts and lifelong skills into the city’s traditional public school physical education classes. The event concluded with delicious and healthy soup served to all the attendees. A memorable day!
