Get Outdoors and Earn a President’s Active Lifestyle Award

Great news America…Fall has arrived! From the beautiful weather, to returning to school and after-school activities, to seeing the trees change into gold—there’s no doubt about it that it’s an invigorating time period. During the next several months, The President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition (PCFSN) and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) want to encourage you to harness your renewed energy, get out to your local parks, and participate in the 2010 President’s Active Lifestyle Award program. Kids who complete 60 minutes of physical activity a day and adults who complete 30 minutes per day, five days a week for six weeks, can get healthier, earn a President’s Active Lifestyle Award, and most of all—have tons of fun. And it’s easy.  America has more than 100,000 public parks and recreation areas in almost every community in the U.S.  They are the perfect places to get closer to your family, connect with old friends, and make new ones!  And there’s something for everyone – from running, to hiking, to walking the dog, to playing your favorite sport…the opportunities are endless. With our new partnership, PCFSN and NRPA are determined to show every individual in America how regular physical activity, good nutrition, and connecting to the outdoors can lead to fuller, healthier, and happier lives. Don’t wait!  Take the President’s Active Lifestyle Award challenge, and walk, run, play, swing, and jump into Fall!  By the end of six weeks, you’ll see the difference it’s made, and you won’t want stop. To register, go to www.presidentschallenge.org.  For more information on NRPA, go to www.nrpa.org

Watch NRPA along with the President's Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition and Olympic gymnast Dominique Dawes encourage you to get active and join the President's Active Lifestyle Challenge.
