Let's Move . . . Literally!

On Friday, First Lady Michelle Obama joined local elementary school students for a soccer clinic in Washington, DC.

The First Lady and the students spent their morning participating in stretches, drills and even obstacle courses with some of soccer's highest scorers, top coaches and gold medal winners.

The clinic was filled with fun activities such as "Sharks and Minnows," relay races and conversations about healthy eating and active lifestyles.

Whether they were passing it back, kicking it forward or just stretching it out, the First Lady and her fellow soccer players had a great time moving and getting their recommended daily 60 minutes of active play.

One of the pillars of the First Lady's Let's Move! campaign is the importance of children getting 60 minutes of active play each day.

So join us in our efforts and spend some time this weekend playing. Whether it's with a soccer ball, a tennis racket or even just a jump rope - make active play a central part of your plans today and every day!

The clinic, hosted by US Soccer Foundation (USSF), Major League Soccer, Women's Professional Soccer, the National Alliance for Hispanic Health (the Alliance), adidas, Eurosport, Univision, and LazyTown, kicks off a series of 25 clinics across the country, known as the 2010 Passback Tour. These clinics will combine 60 minutes of soccer training for children with health screenings for their parents, and also provide a healthy lunch. Leading coaches and world-renowned soccer players coach and play directly with the kids.
