Teaming Up to End Childhood Obesity

Last weekend I had the privilege of traveling to Vancouver to attend the final days of the 2010 Winter Olympics. While I was there, I was inspired by the talent, sportsmanship, and perseverance of the athletes - and their commitment to staying healthy and fit.

But as they'll tell you, you don't have to be an Olympian to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Staying in shape can be as simple as throwing a football with friends, riding a bike, or running around outside. It means getting enough sleep, drinking water to stay hydrated, putting down the remote control and getting moving.

But don't take it from me. We decided to team up with Olympians to fight childhood obesity. See how past and present Olympians stay in shape.

Michelle Kwan is a former Olympic two-time medalist in figure skating.

Louie Vito finished fifth in the snowboard halfpipe at the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Noell Pikus-Pace raced in the women's skeleton at the 2010 Winter Olympics. She is also a mother.

So, now it's your turn to get you and your family moving. Check out our Physical Activity page to find out how kids can get the 60 minutes of active play that they need each day.
